This workshop takes place on Saturday November 11 from 2-5 PM with Teresa Berkholtz.  This is a 3 hour interactive psychoeducation session focusing on the complex interconnection of self-compassion, exercise and the inner critic.  Participants will engage in hands-on activities, discussions, and gain practical guidance to understand and cultivate self-compassion as a powerful tool for motivation to build a sustainable exercise routine by building a compassionate understanding of the inner critic.

    Setting the stage for a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Discussion About the Inner Critic: Who Is the Inner Critic, and Why Do They Exist?
  • Exploring the psychological aspects of the inner critic and its relevance to fitness.
  • Interactive Exercise: Who Is Your Inner Critic? How Do They Show Up in Exercise?
  • Engaging participants in self-reflection to identify and understand their own inner critic.
  • How Does the Inner Critic Impact Motivation to Exercise?
    Examining the relationship between the inner critic and motivation in the context of fitness.

15-Minute Break

  • Dialogue with the Inner Critic: Reframing, Building Resilience, and Self-Compassion
  • Practical strategies for reframing negative self-talk and fostering resilience.
  • Self-Compassion in Action: Practical Application and Goal Setting
  • Empowering participants with tools to integrate self-compassion into their fitness journey.


  • Wrapping up the session, encouraging questions, and fostering a sense of community.
